GameFly to publish mobile games and curate a new app store for Android
|

GameFly doesn't mean too much to us over here in Blighty, but in the US it's known as one of the biggest online video game rental companies.

So, the news that GameFly will not only be publishing iOS and Android titles in the future, but will also be opening up a store for Android software will likely have our American readers stroking their chins in contemplation.

This new Android store, to be called 'GameFly GameStore', will be curated by the firm, and is likely to be a direct rival to Amazon's Appstore, rather than Google Play.

In the company's press release on the GameFly GameStore, co-founder of GameFly and SVP of business development Sean Spector states: "We plan to be a leading player in mobile games by launching our retail GameStore for Android and helping fun mobile developers of all sizes to publish, promote and sell their smartphone and tablet games."

The GameFly GameStore is expected to open sometime in the summer.
