Gotta yada yada

ROM hack 'remake' Pokemon: Liquid Crystal breathes new life into Pokemon: FireRed

Ask your average Pokemon fan what game he's currently looking forward to most, and he would probably mumble something about Black/White 2 before throwing a net over your head and trying to stuff you into a Kinder Egg.

However, some seriously hardcore trainers have been looking to the past for fresh challenges - specifically, Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance.

A coder under the name 'Linkandzelda' has taken it upon himself to 'remake' the GBA classic, and add a whole heap of new content in the process.

A fresh catch

Available to download in its current beta state, Pokemon: Liquid Crystal includes new stories; remixed audio and visuals; extra Rivals and battles; three regions; and a grand total of 386 Pokemon to incarcerate and brainwash.

If you want to take this labour of love for a test drive, you're going have to fire up your emulator or grab yourself a flash cart (and embrace / disregard all the legal and moral quandaries those actions entail).

However, if you're up for the challenge, you can capture Beta 3.1 of Pokemon: Liquid Crystal from the developer's page now.
