The specs of Samsung’s next Galaxy device have been leaked, and they hint at a rather different unit to the company’s acclaimed Galaxy S slate.

According to Samsung Hub, the Galaxy Q could well be the Korean tech giant’s rumoured Android-powered BlackBerry rival. The specs certainly support this theory.

While the Galaxy Q is similar to the Galaxy S in many ways, boasting the same 1GHz Hummingbird CPU and 16GB of internal storage, it differs with regard to the screen. This promises to be a mere 3-inch Super AMOLED effort as opposed to the Galaxy S’s 4-inch version.

Allied to the presence of a full QWERTY keyboard, we could be set to see a BlackBerry-like candybar device.

Despite this compact form factor, the Galaxy Q is set to feature improved camera technology, with the main snapper being upped from 5MP (as seen in the Galaxy S) to an 8MP unit. The front-facing camera will also be an improved 1.3MP affair.

The device will run the latest version of the Android OS, 2.2 (aka. FroYo).
