A new Android-powered handset has appeared on Samsung’s UK website.

Labelled the Galaxy Apollo, the device takes its place as the South Korean giant’s third major smartphone for the region alongside the Galaxy S and the bada-powered Wave.

The Apollo appears to be the same device as the M100S, which was released in South Korea earlier in the year. That device runs on Android 2.1 and features a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED screen and a 5MP camera.

The M100S also features a TV tuner - a pretty standard accessory to have in South Korea that will doubtless be dropped for the UK release. It’ll be interesting to see if the Galaxy Apollo comes with improved performance to compensate.

There’s no news on a firm release date for the Galaxy Apollo as yet, with the website simply listing it as ‘Coming Soon.’
