We knew it. Rockstar might have been saying its first GTA game for DS Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars would be here before the end of January (and possibly before Christmas, even) but it was all seeming a bit too quiet on the Liberty City front. Now it's emerged the game has been pushed back to the second quarter of the fiscal year (which runs from February to April).

Take-Two Interactive announced the news at the BMO Capital Market 2008 Interactive Entertainment Conference (as reported by Gamespot). The DS game's delay wasn't the only one for the series either – the first downloadable content pack for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360 also suffered a similar delay. What are Rockstar's developers playing at, eh?

As soon as there's a confirmed new release date for Chinatown Wars, we'll be sure to let you know.
