E3 2008: DS version of Grand Theft Auto announced - GTA China Town Wars coming in November

Nintendo's E3 presentation was full of pleasant surprises, but none more so than than the announcement that the world's most popular console is about to get a version of the world's most popular video game franchise this November in the shape of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Yes, on DS. About time a publisher bothered to release something on Nintendo's handheld that might appeal to the older DS crowd. There's only so much ice skating princess puppies one can take.

GTA Chinatown Wars is set in Liberty City, features new characters, a custom game engine and promises a free-roaming environment in keeping with the series. Well, if it had opted for anything else we'd have had to break its kneecaps. Twice.

That said, we're a little worried how the DS will handle anything resembling a GTA experience. But then Rockstar usually knows what it's doing.
