Future Racer hovers onto iPhone
Drops weapons for pure speed
A couple of Wipeout-style games have gone live on the App Store during the past weeks.
CobraMobile has revisited its Low Grav Racer with a sequel, while Chillingo has just released Speed Forge Extreme, and now - finally - comes Future Racer.
A project from UK graduate start-up studio Assyria, we've been writing about it since January 2009, so it's great to see it finally being released.
As you'd expect, it's a tilt controlled game in which you zoom around six futuristic tracks, unlocking five increasingly more powerful vehicles as you go.
Unlike Wipeout however, Future Racer is a pure racer, so your power ups are limited to boosts and the like, not weapons.
You can see what it looks like in the following video.
The Agon Online social networking platform is used so you can unlock achievements and check your high scores, as well as connect to Facebook and Twitter.
Future Racer is out now at a special launch price of 99c, €0.79 or 59p.
