Being ahead of the pack, we've already interviewed Middlesbrough student start-up team Assyria Game Studio about its Wipeout-style racer - back when it was called Speed Racer.

It's now being prepped for its App Store debut under the title Future Racer.

It will come with six tracks that promise obstacles ranging from complicated toxic sewer networks to winding forests littered with hazards, and illuminated night-time cityscapes, as well as six vehicles to choose from.

Avoiding the combat elements of Wipeout however, Future Racer is a pure speed experience. The only power ups along the way will be the likes of speed boosts and time packs that subtract seconds from your finishing time.

Hopefully we'll be getting a build of the game soon to check out it compares to the likes of Low Grav Racer and Vektrax.
