FarmVille creator Zynga brings the Wild West to Facebook in FrontierVille
Red Dead Crop Rotation
Repackaging existing ideas in order to capitalise on a trend isn’t the most creative way to conduct business – but Zynga is reportedly worth $4 billion thanks to its massively multiplayer social rehashes, so who are we to judge?
The term 'jumping on the bandwagon' is especially apt in this case, as the Facebook prospector has turned to the Wild West for its latest title, FrontierVille. Anyone who has sampled FarmVille will no doubt acclimatise with ease, especially as planting crops still plays a large part in the game.
However, there are some evolutions to the formula, including taking control of multiple avatars (your family of settlers) simultaneously, and you can even get hitched and breed more of them. Your reputation is also important, along with the relationships you maintain in this brave new world.
Wildlife and dynamic weather add more to the stove pot, and if all of this has you chomping at the bit you’ll be pleased to learn that it’s already playable on Facebook.
