Playing around with pricing is nothing new for developers. Still the fact that German developer ThumbFire has made its FrogHop game free for the weekend (originally launched at $1.99), is worth pointing out.

After all, the last time it pulled off a similar trick with its Creamy Ice game, it was downloaded 1.8 million times.

And, if anything, FrogHop is a more polished experience.

Hop-a-long

It places you as the frog prince, bouncing from coloured ball to coloured ball. You do this by correctly tapping the matching coloured ball on the bottom of the screen. Dual-toned balls are dealt with by tapping on the two colours required.

As you go along your bouncy, froggy way, you can eat flies by tapping on them. You'll also have to avoid the coloured bomb balls, by tapping on the next coloured ball, while you'll need to bounce quick to avoid the storks that will otherwise peck you.

Jumping on special balls gets you new crowns - there are 12 to collect - as well as speeding up or slowing down the action.

Even if you do select the wrong colour and hop into the water, you can use your collected points to try a find another life (or crown) in the 'fishing for a crown' mini-game once you've used up your allocated three.

FrogHop is free until Sunday June 27th.
