Friday Freebie: Organize your PSP and play Portal on your DS (sort of)

Though our desks don't really reflect that we are people with tidy minds, rest assured Pocket Gamer likes to stay organized, even if our filing system could kindly be described as 'unconventional'.

So we're super pleased that Sony has released version 2.5 of its PSP Media Manager on the PSP Store for free download. For those of you that don't already use the application (sorry Mac users, this is a PC only thing), the PSP Media Manager is an all-in-one solution for managing your PSP's video, music and pictures and it's all served up with a nice, easy to use drag-and-drop interface.

This week's second PSP freebie is also of the housekeeping variety. Fancy a Windows Vista theme for your PSP? We promise it won't be plagued with bugs and demand unreasonable amounts of computing might from your PSP. (We kid.)

As for the DS, we're sorry to say that, yet again, the Wii's Nintendo Channel is still unchanged from the last two weeks. Seriously, Nintendo, we know online delivery isn't really your strength but, come on, surely you can do better than this? We're so enraged in fact, that we're spitefully going to turn to the solace of homebrew to plug the DS freebie-shaped hole in our lives.

Actually, we're doing it for you, dear readers. Call it giving something back. Even if we're just pointing you to someone else's work. Anyway, we've mined our past DS (and PSP) homebrew round-ups and picked out a recent favourite. Remember Portal: The Flash Version, that internet addicts the world over were getting all hot under the collar about not so long ago?

Anyhoo, some clever clogs reworked it into a fresh title, complete with the new name, StillAliveDS (which is a clever reference to the original game's end credits song 'Still Alive' by Jonathan Coulton), a lovely Jetsons-esq re-skin and a level editor. Interested? We thought so; it's just a shame Valve don't make DS games, then it wouldn't only be the bru crowd that get to enjoy this little gem.

As for mobiles, we've added a load of Gameloft's latest offerings to our Demos section, so be sure to check it out. (Don't tell anyone, but we have a surprise coming for it soon, too.)

That's it for now folks, remember to give the Freebie Archive a look and do click 'Track It!' to ensure that next week's offering doesn't pass you by. Bon freebie!
