It's all about classic no nonsense freebies this week; dependable stuff you can eat with gravy. Not that you need to go pouring sauce over this week's freebies as it won't make then any more enjoyable – they're succulent enough on their own. Tsk.

So if this is going to be a bit of a stock entry into the Friday Freebie archive, we might as well remain creatures of habit and start with the PSP. Sony's handheld gets a new demo this week, a Japanese example, no less, and hence available from the ever-dependable PSP Demo Center (and not our own Demo section which we're trying to keep mostly English speaking for the time being).

It's called Ikuze! Gen-San (translated as Carpenter's Story), and is based on the popular anime about a young hammer-wielding boy. It's free, it's quirky and it's in Japanese so if that's your thing, get your USB cable and get downloading. As ever, thanks to HiddenAway for that one.

The DS, too, gets something from the Far East but with a twist in that it's a Japanese flash demo about language learning in the shape of Sega's superbly named English of the Dead. To that end it's a little less than challenging for native English speakers but, hey, it's free and the visuals are pretty impressive. If Japanese of the Dead ever gets a release at least you should know what to expect.

Lastly, another recommendation from our freebie cohorts, Mobile Rated. This time it's for the spectacularly titled TomcatDogfight, which as you might imagine features combat of the aeronautical sort in aircraft that would make Tom Cruise yearn for simpler times and gameplay that will have Kenny Loggins' 'Danger Zone' ringing in your ears. Just head to our forum for the download link.

And that, dear friends, is all you're getting for the time being. But never fear, there'll be another batch coming soon so click 'Track It!' to be sure not to miss it. Until then, bon freebie!
