Don't let the flash and bang of E3 distract you. Sure, home consoles are fun and all, but how many freebies do you get from them? Not as many as you do from handhelds we are guessing, and just to prove it, here is a crisp batch of new handheld offerings that we found clinging to our monitors this morning, fresh like gaming dew.

We normally wouldn't encourage you to go spending your coffee break reading into another publication, but seeing as unlike LOAD magazine we don't do much in the way of music, film, art and TV coverage, we thought we would make an exception.

Available for free download in PSP-friendly format, issue 7 of LOAD includes an interview with the New Young Pony Club, reviews of new albums from The Arctic Monkeys and Pocket Gamer favourites Battles, as well as the latest summer blockbuster films such as Oceans 13 and Spiderman 3. There are also lots of arty photos of young, beautiful people looking 'edgy' to be enjoyed. Well worth a look for freebie loving culture vultures.

Now time for a quick revisit to a site we doffed our cap to in our Pocket Gamer's favourite handheld fan sites. The chaps at Animal Crossing Ahead are still churning out all manner of free content for fans of the DS iteration of the game, including free MP3s of the in-game music, an item code checker, and a selection of wallpapers. Lots of effort has gone in here and Animal Crossing fanatics would do well to lend their support.

Finally, taking care of the mobile side this week are some web-games you can play in your phone's browser, courtesy of Kalador. Titles include Ace Trivia, a war themed strategy called Blitz, and a survivor-like Sims style offering called Outlast. It seems then that the iPhone isn't the only handset that is getting the tailor made web game treatment.

That's it for this week, as always remember we have a friendly and inviting forum just waiting for posts about your freebie finds that have slipped by us, or else let us know in the comments below. And if you are new to the whole idea of legally free stuff on handhelds and are reeling after parting with cash for a PSP, DS, fancy mobile or iPod, then let our freebie archive tide you over until your wallet recovers.
