It may be summertime, but in the world of freebie games hunting the maxim 'when it rains it pours' is particularly apt this week. With the Apple iPhone making all the headlines, we've turned our attention to its older sibling, the iPod, where we have unearthed more than 100 games for the device courtesy of Zimbio.

Where there is a freebie, however, there is usually a snag and in this case it is that every single one of the titles is a themed quiz rather than an action packed conversion of a classic title.

Still, covering popular topics such as Star Wars, Lost and Halo as well as more specialised subjects including Zelda, Kingdom of Hearts and our personal favourite, the Movie Monsters Quiz, there is something here for everyone here, however arcane. All are free and are accompanied by easy to understand installation instructions.

Next up we have something a bit leftfield for mobiles. Considering how spoilt for full mobile games and demos you lot are (via the likes of GameJump), we thought that a freebie that aids in enjoying some of multimedia capabilities of modern handsets might be a tad overdue.

Avex's DVD to mobile conversion software makes ripping DVDs into the mobile friendly 3GP format a doddle and is extremely quick, too, (up to three times faster than other solutions on the market, it claims). The trial version is limited but it is free and may be enough to prompt a purchase for those with long daily commutes.

Lastly a good old-fashioned PSP demo for you straight from the PSP Store; this revisit to the far from perfect but still enjoyable Xbox shooter, Xyanide: Resurrection has some impressively vibrant visuals and is well worth the entrance fee of free.

That's it for this week. Click 'Track It!' to receive another batch in seven days time and if you have only just bought a PSP, new mobile or a DS, do take a minute to check out our freebie archive; there are treasures there for pocket gamers of every persuasion.
