Welcome to this week's Friday Freebie, a place where we do our best to debunk the merit of humdrum idioms such as 'You get what you pay for' or 'There is no such thing as a free lunch' by serving up a delicious free weekly platter of content for your portable gizmos.

First up this week is PSP Connect, a resource for PSP videos that we haven't come across before. The site is run by Sony and contains loads of film trailers and clips as well as music videos, made for PSP TV clips, comedy clips and full episodes of the popular Broken Saints anime. All of them are free to download, and there is no bothersome registration required either.

PSP owners are extra lucky this week, as we've managed to uncover a second freebie. Quite how the fantastic free PSP graphic novel series NYC 2123 has managed to stay beyond the range of our freebie radar for so long is beyond us, but now we've found it we're certified fanatics.

Set in a future dystopian New York, where body modifications are the norm and much of the city has been laid waste by a prolonged state of lawlessness, NYC 2123 is like a sci-fi Sin City but with far more ideas of its own and without the blatant misogyny. A fantastic read for comic geeks or even those looking for some decent bus trip fodder.

And there's more! Although they're not quite freebies (as you need to have bought the games), PSP owners who count either Killzone: Liberation or Burnout Dominator among their existing collection of titles should check out the free downloadable content released for each this week.

The DS is also getting in on the whole eBook and video action this week, due to our happy discovery of the fantastic Moon Books Project. The site is dedicated to bringing classic films and literature to the DS via homebrew, and includes free downloads for works from authors such as Franz Kafka, James Joyce and Edgar Alan Poe among a whole library of others.

The site isn't exactly skimpy in the cinematic department either, with a host of black and white classics as well as a few more recent cult films. Pocket Gamer recommends The Day the Earth Stood Still, a classic sci-fi cold war era flick and a great place to start for those who may feel a little out of their depth among so many ancient celluloid antiquities. The site also contains detailed instructions on what homebrew bits and bobs you might need, as well as how to use them to gain access to the site's content. All in all, the Moon Book Project is one of the best freebie resources to brighten the screens of our DS in months.

Lastly this week, a quick visit to HOVR, an ad-funded mobile games site that we covered a while back on Pocket Gamer but haven't hitherto been to on an official ambassadorial visit from the Friday Freebie palace. Containing a whole catalogue of free mobile games with names like Intergalactic Kung Fu and The Ugly Duckling and Me – Ratso Golf, the free charms of HOVR are pretty obvious.

If any of you find anything particularly fantastic on there, please be sure to let your pocket gaming brethren know by popping a quick post on our new forum about it.

That's it for this week. Click 'Track It!' for more next week and if you are new to the joys of the Friday Freebie, do take a look over our archives.
