Wow, just wow! You simply won’t believe what we have for you this week and before you sigh dryly, this is not some sort of shock sarcastic preamble. Are you ready?

This week, there's been a demo of Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker released for the PSP which you can download here. Stunned? Amazed? Flabbergasted? The demo is in Japanese, which means many won’t be able to soak up the story, but since the gameplay focuses on the international language of stealth assassination you should still be able to have plenty of fun with it.

It’s a sizable 160MB download and you’ll need to be packing the latest 6.0 firmware, but other than that there are no barriers to entry. It’s almost more excitement than we can handle given how unexpected this is.

That said, seeing as the demo coincides with the Tokyo Game Show, perhaps we should have seen this coming. Here’s hoping this is just a taste of Sony’s future approach to keeping the PSP well stocked with freebies – certainly, other publishers could follow Konami's example.

Moving on, we head in the way of stonking great awesomeness, this time for the DS. With Mini Ninjas nearly ready to slice and dice on the DS (and already carving up a storm on mobile), Eidos has plumped up a load of goodies on the game’s official website.

There are wallpapers, screensavers, ringtones and MSN packs to be had (which decorate your MSN account with a heavy sprinkling of Mini Ninjas-related bits and pieces).

Not only that, but there’s a free PC demo of the game available, too, which although probably quite different to the impending DS version should still give you a good idea of the game’s unique style.

So with both Sony and Nintendo’s platforms thoroughly laden with freebie fruit, the only thing left to do is point you towards the free iPhone gaming podcast, the free iPhone games Trawler Report and the Freebie Archive. Anyone still unsatisfied with that considerable haul must have been an only child.

That’s it for now. Go off and have fun, it is the weekend after all. But before you do, click ‘Track It!’ to be sure not to miss next week’s offering.
