Friday Freebie: Pickins be slim round these parts...

| Friday Freebie

In the absence of any decent freebies - or, in fact, of anything that could fairly be described as a freebie, the best I can do for this week’s ever more misleadingly titled Friday Freebie, is be as entertaining as possible. Here goes.

So this guy walks into a bar...

No, no, no! Cheap gags are not an option. I suppose if we must face this embarrassment perpetrated, week in, week out, by Sony and Nintendo, we should at least face it head on, and we all know what that means. It means, 日本PSP人の記憶装置のゲーム! Go and look it up.

So, as long as you have your Japanese language skills in check and, of course, a Japanese PSP Store account set up, you can grab two new demos this week. They are Hayarigami 3 Portable and Qruton.

We don’t know what they are and nor do we feel responsible for finding out. There’s less chance of this pair being given a European release than there is of the Gizmondo staging a dramatic comeback.

If any of you go to the trouble of trying them out only to find they are two of the best games ever released, do be sure to let us know in the comments.

Moving on, it’s the DS’s turn.

That was the DS’s turn. There’ll be more of the same next week (probably). Showing everyone else how it should be done, as is increasingly typical, plucky young upstart, the iPhone has plenty of freebies to shout about.

In fact there are too many to shout about, so taking a much more focussed route is probably a better option. Those routes are, The free iPhone game Trawler Report and the Freebie Focus, both of which will point you directly towards the costless App Store goodies you should be paying attention to.

There's also our free weekly iPhone gaming podcast.

Lastly, something for everyone. Yep, you guessed it: it’s the freebie that never ends, the Freebie Archive. Check it out if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed.

That’s it for now. Click ‘Track It!’ to check back next week for another load.
