We love one-thumb casual games here at Pocket Gamer, but we also hold a candle for the sort of wildly-ambitious cross-platform multiplayer concepts that, if we're honest, rarely turn into a finished game you can actually buy.

Freaky Creatures bucks that trend. It's a new game that's been announced by US firm Abandon Mobile, and it's best described as a multiplayer trading-card-style strategy game, which will run across mobile and PC.

You'll create your own creature, choosing from ten different species, and then customise it with hundreds of parts and skills. Then, you'll be pitched into an intergalactic war, collecting creatures and battling other players.

Meanwhile, there'll be an online community around the game, including hints and tips, competitions, message boards and high score tables, while there'll also be online and mobile comics based on the Freaky Creatures universe.

It sounds like Pokemon In Space, to us. (Fingers crossed!) No screenshots yet, we're afraid, or news on a release date. But we'll keep you posted.
