Electronic Arts releases DSiWare game Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes

A serious case of lost identity

Electronic Arts releases DSiWare game Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes

It's annoying when you lose something, and doubly so when the thing is question is your identity. Electronic Arts's latest DSiWare offering charges you with the task of getting it back.

You play the role of yourself, intent on retrieving the identity that arch villain 'The Professor' has stolen from you. To do so involves battling your way through 15 levels apparently packed with memorable characters, friend and foe.

Along the way are various challenges, including battling baddies on Haunted Hill, collecting stars throughout Frantic Frontier, and solving platform puzzles in the Mystic East. So far so conventional, but Foto Face has a twist.

When you start Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes, you have to take a picture of yourself with the DSi camera and record your voice. The results are then used for the main character.

Once you have made your hero, you can then choose from eight hero costumes to jazz yourself up with, which we can imagine will be pretty comical.

Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes is not a traditional gaming experience,” says Harvey Elliott, Vice President and General Manager Casual, EA Play Label.

“We believe there are two key viral components, firstly the enormous fun that people will have putting their friends’ faces into the game, and secondly going to Facebook to check out all what other people have done with the character creation tool.”

From the look of the screenshots, Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes has character, and the premise sounds like a lot of fun. But will the final product be a Kodak moment or simply an unforgettable face?
