Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive would no doubt be shocked that anyone would want to destroy the flat touchscreen purity of the iPad, but US outfit Ten One Design begs to differ.

It's just announced its Fling iPad game controller.

It's a stick-on peripheral using transparent suction cups that you can use to convert games that use virtual joysticks into the tactile real-world.

Feel the force

According to the company's FAQ, you just fire up your game, and position Fling's center control over the virtual D-pad, then press down on the two small suction cups to secure it to your screen.

It should work with any such games, including twin stick shooters - Ten One recommends Meteor Blitz, Across Age and Super Megaworm. Obviously, you'll have to buy two of units for the twin stick experience.

Fling isn't actually available for purchase just yet, but you can pre-order them. Each one costs $24.95.

You can see how it works in the following video.
