It’s not every day that we leave behind the portable, pocket gaming gadge’ in favour of big boy home consoles, but here’s an exception: Firemint has confirmed that thoroughly addictive iPhone time-waster Flight Control is heading to PlayStation 3 next month.

Hitting September 15th, the line-drawing plane lander will be available to download from the PS3’s digital download service, PlayStation Network. Featuring very similar gameplay to the iPhone game, Flight Control has you routing planes and helicopters to colour coordinated runways and landing pads.

It’ll also feature many of the modes and stages that have appeared in the game’s various iterations, as it’s already made the move from iPhone to DSiWare, iPad and Mobile.

Flight Control HD will feature 16 different aircraft types and nine maps. Four of those are supersized and one, the day-to-night switching ‘Metropolis’, is exclusive to PS3.

Plus it includes local and online leaderboards, trophies, multiplayer and an optional 3D mode. Unlike the iPad edition, this 3D option doesn’t use old red and cyan 3D goggles, but instead is exclusive to those with fancy schmancy 3D tellies.

It also uses the motion controlled PlayStation Move, though you can stick with the traditional controller. The game hits PlayStation Network on September 15th in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.
