Despite having built a solid reputation and generated plenty of downloads, Oxford studio X2 Games - part of handheld developer Exient - has announced its X2 Football iOS series has come to an end.

However, the good news is it's taking all its experience and cramming it into a new game - First Touch Football, which it describes as being "bigger, better and beefier".

Game of two halves

"First Touch Football will have a new visual style, new player models, new player data and much more new stuff," says technical director Charles Chapman.

"The name change underlines this work that has gone into the title and also helps us align with publishing plans on other platforms."

First Touch Football is due to hit the App Store some time in the spring.
