E3 2012: Fire Emblem: Awakening announced for Nintendo 3DS

There were a few noteworthy MIA Nintendo 3DS titles during the conference yesterday, one of which was the next Fire Emblem RPG.

But, fear not: just like pretty much every other publisher during this year's E3, Nintendo failed to mention that there is in fact news regarding the title.

According to IGN, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Fire Emblem: Kakusei will be released in the US, and it will be known as Fire Emblem: Awakening over here in the West.

The game follows Krom, a vigilante captain, and features many of the same gameplay elements as past Fire Emblem titles, including pairing up with other people and going up against enemies as a team.

Nintendo of America also confirmed the news about the new Fire Emblem game for 3DS via its official Twitter account - alas, the European arm of The Big N has yet to follow suit. Don't worry, though - we've asked for confirmation from Nintendo and will update you when we have heard back.
