Multiplayer mode announced for Final Fantasy Tactics PSP

According to IGN, Square Enix has confirmed that a multiplayer option will feature in the forthcoming Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou (The Lion War).

The game – a remake of a PSone title, which includes additional features such as reworked graphics, new job classes and extra playable character – is due in Japan in April, and although an English language release has yet to be confirmed, it is expected (even if only for the US).

The newly confirmed multiplayer element (thought to be ad hoc only) has reportedly been carefully crafted to enable tight two-player battles, with one team blue, the other red.

It may not sound like much but it is a significant addition, likely to have a major influence on the dynamic – and appeal – of the strategy RPG.

For now, however, only those fluent in Japanese are likely to be particularly excited.
