The cast of the original The Fast and the Furious movie are teaming up once again for another spin around the box office block in Fast & Furious, and I-play has dropped us a line to exclusively announce it’s got its foot on the pedal for the mobile game tie-in.

This’ll be the sixth in the mobile racing series, and promises seven different modes of play, fast and smooth racing, intense street racing and one-on-one challenges similar to the Pink Slip style of gameplay. The connected online leaderboard will allow you to go up against other players the world over - but if you lose the race, you lose your ride.

“Having sold over 13 million units, our Fast and the Furious franchise is the most renowned title in mobile racing today,” says Don Ryan of Oberon Media (I-play's parent company. “Our new title is the only official game of the new Fast & Furious movie and replicates the film story implicitly.”

The plot follows Vin Diesel and Paul Walker - who resurrect their roles from the first movie - as they work with the FBI to infiltrate the gang of a heroin importer.

Fast and Furious: Pink Slip won itself a Bronze Award on the iPhone, and considering the work I-play has already poured into the slick, 3D racing engine, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Apple’s platform get its own version of Fast & Furious - especially considering the similarity of gameplay the new title boasts. Nothing official yet, but watch this space.

In the meantime we’ll have a preview of the mobile version of Fast & Furious for you this afternoon, so leave your engine running.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
