In our experience, games priced at £9.99 normally come displayed in a big basket with 'SALE' written on the side of it. Or in boxes that look like they've been designed by an A-level art student during their lunch break. Which is our unnecessarily convoluted way of saying that we don't expect brand new DS games to be released at that price point.

But that's what publisher Lexicon is doing with its upcoming puzzle title, FIZZ.

The game was first announced last year (when it was expected to retail for £20) and has a premise that's just a little bit too complicated for us to get our heads round on a Friday afternoon. Essentially, the game board is comprised of 25 points within four antennae and the player's goal is to create an energy flow between them all by aligning colours. When a loop is created, points are deducted and other points appear on the board.

Bonuses also regularly rain down on the players, as well as random setbacks such as broken antennae, meteorite showers and other best avoided space-based hazards.

The whole thing is set in space, in fact, and there are ten boards to play in total. As well as that, FIZZ has more play modes than you can shake a… well, a £10 note at, including Time Attack, Infinite and Arcade modes. And let's not forget several multiplayer options and a co-op mode are included.

Which doesn't make it sound too bad for the price, does it? Of course, as we've previously said, it could play like a 99p experience.

We'll find out just as much of a bargain FIZZ is when it's released in shops on April 25th.
