Jumpers for goalposts and all that - EA's just announced Fifa Street 3 is in development for DS. The game was previously confirmed for Xbox 360 and PS3, but not on handhelds. It will be Fifa Street's second outing on DS, and this time around EA is promising new visuals that turns football icons into stylised caricatures of themselves, as well as an innovative touchscreen control system

A couple of DS exclusive features are planned too. First off, a mini-games called Kick Ups that tests your ball-juggling skills, and there's a special African footie location which won't be seen in the other versions of the game.

As for that control system, EA says it uses stylus and simple button controls enabling players to pull off advanced moves such as juggling, headers and bicycle kicks. These can be strung together to make goal-scoring combos. You can also fill your Gamebreaker bar by showcasing your street footie skills. When this is full, you're more likely to score a goal.

18 international teams feature in the game, and the world's best players from each are represented including Ronaldinho, Kaká, Rooney, Gerrard, Ballack, Henry and even dear old Crouchie. You can build a team around your favourite player in the Street Challenge Mode and try to move from 'Pretender' status to 'Legendary' by completing challenges, developing team chemistry and improving your reputation. It sounds like there should be plenty in there compared to the standard kick around down the local park.

New screenshots (as above) were released with the announcement, while the game is scheduled for release in February 2008.
