Europa Universalis goes mobile

Spanish publisher LemonQuest has snapped up the rights to make a mobile game based on Europa Universalis. You know, the PC strategy game that was itself based on a popular board game. It's a bit like Civilization, in that you choose a nation and have to turn it into a Great Empire, via exploration, trade, war and diplomacy.

LemonQuest promises that the mobile version will feature all the proper rules and events from the PC edition of the game. There'll also be a couple of dedicated mobile features – namely a multiplayer Bluetooth mode, and an online rankings system.

More intriguingly, LemonQuest's announcement claims that 'the connection functionalities of cell phones will also make it possible to create a space where the players can communicate, challenge each other and exchange experiences and strategies'.

We're not sure if that's code for 'online multiplayer and some form of mobile community', but it sounds hopeful.

There's no news on a release date yet, and no screenshots, but we'll be following Europa Universalis Mobile Edition's progress, so click 'Track It'! to stay informed.
