After announcing a mobile version last year, Alten8 has now agreed with artist Luc Bernard to expand Eternity's Child universe onto DS (and Wii).

Based on Bernard's creations, the story is based on a planet that was once filled with many living creatures and vast forests, before excessive pollution caused the ice caps to melt and flood the world. Sound familiar?

Well, this bit won't. You see, it wasn't just the flooding that killed most of the planet's creatures. Turns out those without wings became jealous of those with them (who could therefore easily escape the rising water level) and soon began killing their winged cousins until none remained.

In an effort to repopulate the world, robots were created but those didn't take long to blow a fuse and start attacking and destroying what was left.

Amidst this chaos, you play Angel, who was left at the door of an orphanage as a baby and had his wings cut off to prevent him being murdered. Now older yet still not accepted by the other children, you escape and go off in search any remaining survivors of your species in the hope of gaining acceptance amongst your equals.

So that's the plot. Which is more than we know about the actual gameplay, although Alten8 has at least revealed the DS version is a 3D platform game. The look, too, is obviously expected to remain very close to Luc Bernard's art, with characters entirely hand drawn and animated.

But that's it for now. Oh, other than the fact no release date has yet been set.
