Cave, creator of popular bullet-hell shooter DoDonPachi, is gearing up to release its first iPhone game.

Titled EspGaluda II, this arcade port sticks to Cave's roots by pitting your space ship against a carpet of bullets, bombs and missiles. On top of all the manic arcade action the game features a couple of iPhone specific goodies, including an 'Awakening Pulse' technique and internet rankings and achievements through OpenFeint.

Cave isn't dumbing down the game for the portable platform, but being true to the arcade release does have its consequences. On the game's official website, Cave writes that its title is only compatible with iPhone 3GS and late 2009 iPod touch devices with 32 or 64GB storage.

The 8GB iPod touch has far less memory than the 32 and 64GB devices.

The company has been apologetic on Twitter, writing "Sorry to disappoint 3G users, but a shooter like EsPgaluda II require lots of memory" and suggests downtrodden gamers "pick up the new version of the iPhone this summer."

The game will release at an introductory price of £2.99, €3.99 or $4.99, before heading back to the usual price of £5.49, €6.99 or $8.99.

EspGaluda II releases on iPhone 3GS and the most recent iPod touches on April 10th.
