Konami Digital Entertainment announced today that its mobile game, Emoticons Mobile, has received the Honours Award in the video games category for the 2008 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA).

"We're delighted to once again be recognized by NAPPA for our mobile games," said Konami Mobile's veep, Joe Morris. "We strive to provide a wide variety of games that appeal to all gamers, including family friendly titles, and it's great that independent judges consider our titles among the best!"

Puzzle game Emoticons was created by iQ212 as part of its concept to make games more accessible for all areas of society. Rick Marazzani of iQ212 responded to the news by saying, "We set out to make a game that our moms would play, knowing that if mom approves, the whole family will enjoy it. Konami's market presence and expertise has made them a great partner in bringing this vision to mobile devices."

Now in its 17th year, the National Parenting Publications Awards is the most comprehensive awards program for children's products and parenting resources. NAPPA's independent panel of judges evaluate hundreds of submissions to select the most appealing, fun, safe, educational, age-appropriate and enduring products.

This is the second consecutive year NAPPA has recognised Konami Mobile for its family friendly titles, having previously granted it the Gold Award for two mobile games, Professor Fizwizzle and Frogger 25th.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
