New information surfaces for Earth Defense Forces 3: Portable, including a 4-person co-op mode

Earlier this summer, we reported on the announcement of Earth Defense Forces 3: Portable for the PS Vita.

Little was known about the game at the time (except that it would involve gun-totting humans blasting away at invading aliens), but thanks to Famitsu we have some new information to go on.

To begin with, it is not a new title – strictly speaking – but is a port of Earth Defense Forces 2017 which its developer Sandlot initially released for the Xbox 360 back in 2006.

Also, it will feature jetpacks and a 4-player co-op mode.

EDF looks a-OK

The additional 4-player online co-op mode for the Vita is an impressive, if natural, improvement over EDF 2017’s 2-player local co-op.

In the touted co-op mode, EDF 3: Portable will feature new weapons including healing weapons, repair weapons, and 'super guns' which are so massive that they will reduce your character's movement speed.

The jetpacks in the (Japanese) trailer below show Earth Defense Forces 3: Portable’s ability to bring the z-axis seamlessly into the gameplay and will likely get Vita owners good and excited for its release.

Unfortunately, the game has yet to receive a European or North American release date, but we will keep you updated when that changes.
