One of the surprise titles from Saturday's iPad launch was SGN's multiplayer space shooter EXO-Planet.

The game promises 2v2 action, but troubles with a nasty bug and too few players make getting in on that action near-impossible.

Since its release, we've only been able to connect for three matches. The matchmaking system appears to be loading a game, but never makes the connection. In a few cases, the game crashed to the iPad home screen.

SGN spoke with us about the issue and pledges that work is being done to get the game up and running.

"We have been made aware of a bug and are working on a fix that will be submitted to Apple in the next few days; we will also be providing a single player solution."

Considering the connected nature of the game, the forthcoming single-player mode should at least make it possible to play when network problems like this arise.

The SGN representative also cautioned that the iPad launch meant few people were playing the game and that an infusion of more players should improve matchmaking.

"We are aware that some people have had an issue with matchmaking. EXO-Planet is a multiplayer game and there are only so many iPads users out there so far - so this will improve over time."

EXO-Planet is available now for iPad at a price of £3.99/$6.99.
