It's the Wii version of the forthcoming Wimbledon simulator from EA that's getting all the attention at the moment, but the gaming giant also eludes to future adaptations for other platforms in today's press release.

"As we look to expand the EA Sports brand and captivate sports fans from around the world with rich new interactive experiences, it was obvious that the renaissance we're seeing in the sport of tennis provides us with a big opportunity," said Peter Moore, president of EA Sports.

"Our new tennis franchise, coming first to the Wii [followed by other platforms], will put fans right into the action and provide the excitement, tension and drama that true champions feel in legendary matches " like the classic from Wimbledon just last month."

EA isn't one to discriminate among the systems, so it's not at all unlikely our handheld and mobile formats will also get in on the strawberries and cream action.

The real question is whether there is room in the market for yet another tennis game (particularly on PSP, where Virtua Tennis 3 currently reigns supreme)?

EA obviously thinks there is, so click 'Track It!' to see what it comes up with.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
