MachineWorks Northwest optimising Duke Nukem 3D for Xperia Play, and removing annoying ads from existing Android version

Classic shoot-'em-up Duke Nukem 3D, which was recently released for Android devices, is being optimised for Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play, the developer has confirmed.

MachineWorks Northwest told Pocket Gamer that the game will be optimised for the device in a future update, although there’s no exact release date as yet.

The developer also added that it has removed ads from the game’s menu after customer complaints. Duke Nukem 3D costs £0.63 and includes the first episode, with the second and third available via IAP. This led to players (justifiably) complaining about adverts appearing in a paid-for app.

Duke Nukem 3D follows the foul-mouthed and foul-minded hero through Los Angeles, as he fights off hordes of aliens intent on "stealing our chicks". You can download the game from the Android Market right now.
