In Japan, all manner of goodies have been released via the download-only DSiWare channel. In Europe however, we're still struggling as Nintendo salami slices its way by re-releasing bits of games many people have already bought via standard retail DS carts.

But we can now be more hopeful with the news that Square Enix has just announced Dragon Quest Wars for DSiWare, or so says 4Gamer.

Developed by Intelligent Systems, the studio behind Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, the game promises to be a four player strategy experience set in the Dragon Quest universe that excitingly will also support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

In Japan it will cost 500 Nintendo Points (£4.50, $5, €5) and should be out in the middle of June.

There's no news yet on release dates in North America or Europe, but Square Enix has applied for US trademarks so we're hopeful that we'll be seeing this one before the end of 2009.
