Retro gamers are just as enamoured with classically styled games as with remakes of old favourites, which is why Binary Square's new game Dragon Panic should appeal to all you (us) old people out there.

As something of a once devoted/obsessed arcade creeper, I'd be inclined to say Dragon Panic adopts the style of early Japanese coin-ops (post 1980, pre 1985, to be precise) with a colourful, cute lilt and simple, engaging, pick-up-and-play gameplay.

As the eponymous dragon, it's up to you to thwart the attempts of the evil Knight by blasting his attacks out of the air using your fire balls. By that I mean you breath fireballs at the falling objects, not... anything else.

Anyway, the old skool graphics and 8-bit sounds should appeal to anyone who still enjoys a round of Donkey Kong, Burger Time, or Bubble Bobble, so hit 'Buy It!' to head on over to the App Store to check it out.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
