Perhaps best known for its Cure-performed theme tune, French cartoon Dragon Hunters is getting a big screen makeover, with an animated 3D movie version due for release in early 2008. And we all known what a big screen makeover means. Yes, it means a big screen makeover tie-in game.

Dutch publisher Playlogic is the company to have dived in for the rights. It's promising releases on 'all platforms' and has specifically named a DS version, which is due for simultaneous launch with the film.

The cartoon itself follows the humorous travails of freelance dragon hunters Lian-Chu and Gwizdo as they make their way through a futuristic yet medieval floating world. Lian-Chu is the brawn of the duo, who does the dragon slaying and enjoys knitting. Gwizdo provides the brains, as well as piloting their airship, St. George.

Pet dragon Hector brings extra comic possibilities into play, and Playlogic's Dominique Morel can hardly contain his glee: "Dragon Hunters is a superb opportunity to create rich new interactive content with hilariously fun gameplay," he hoots garrulously (in our minds' eye, at least).
