Daring to grace a new platform

Classic '80s interactive movie Dragon's Lair making its way to the Xperia Play

Classic '80s laserdisc video game / interactive movie Dragon's Lair is making its way to Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play sometime before the middle of next week.

If you're unfamiliar with this retro adventure, it sees you help brave knight Dirk the Daring rescue a helpless princess, who's stranded inside the castle of a foul wizard.

You do this by responding to on-screen prompts with taps and button presses, all of which require split-second reflexes. Don't expect a walk in the park.

Animated

We awarded the iPhone version of Dragon's Lair a respectable Pocket Gamer Bronze Award back in December 2009, and praised the game's "awe-inspiring" animations.

That's hardly surprising considering they were created by ex-Disney animator Don Bluth.

We'll let you know as soon as we get our grubby mitts on Dragon's Lair for the Xperia Play, so keep one eye pointed towards PG. At all times.
