DS gets yet another hit of kids' games

2K Play teams up with Nickelodeon to bring us Dora DS and more

Here's an announcement that should be greeted by any primary school student like we greet a free bar or a bank holiday Monday day off work (as in, very enthusiastically).

2K Games has announced it's teaming up with Nickelodeon to bring a slew of new kids' games to DS (as well as PS2 and Wii). So that means this autumn you can look forwarding to playing Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess, Go, Diego. Go! Great Dinosaur Race and - a DS only game - The Wonder Pets! Save the Animals!

In Dora the Explorer, players join Dora, Boots and Pirate Piggy on an adventure to save the Magic Snowy Forest from the spell of a witch.

Go, Diego, Go! meanwhile has you travelling through time with Diego, Alicia and Baby Jaguar trying to reunite Maia the Maiasaura with her dinosaur family.

I wonder how much people get paid to make this stuff up?

In The Wonder Pets! Save the Animals! players team up with popular classroom pets to help save more endangered varieties of animals, like a Bengal tiger and giant panda. Using the DS stylus and microphone, you'll be able to tap, drag, blow, speak and circle your way through activities such as pulling a thorn from a tiger's paw and towing a chimpanzees space capsule to safely.

Saving chimpanzees from space? We're not sure this game is trying to do much in the way of educating children about real world animal conservation...

Anyway, the games have been given a vague autumn release date. Oh, and they've been tested by kids and mums for age-appropriateness, fun-factor and quality, which has got to mean they're good. Right?
