Will it be a patch on the original?

Cave reveals all on iPhone shmup DoDonPachi Resurrection

Following its success with Espgaluda II, Japanese developer Cave is bringing its original bullet-hell shmup Do-don-pachi to iPhone in a resurrection of the classic arcade game.

Named DoDonPachi Resurrection, the game is a sequel to DoDonPachi Daioujou (released for arcade and PS2) and has you dodging waves of enemy bullets to the sound of horrifying electro death-dance music. When the time is right, you unleash your wonderfully named “Supreme weapon of utter annihilation.”

Like Espgaluda, the game features both an original Arcade mode and an iPhone mode, designed specifically for the handheld. It also has control customisation and, for greenhorns, it packs in a Practice mode.

And, also like Cave’s last iPhone game, the app is exclusive to the latest Apple devices, and will only run on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, super recent iPod touchs and the iPad. This is due to the amount of bullets on screen at once, which would cause an older iDevice to explode. Probably.

The game is destined for release this summer, which is fast ending, so look out for it soon.
