The invasion of enhanced Symbian smartphone games is ramping up, with 3D shoot-em-up Destiny from Black Bull Studios following hot on the heels of first-person shooter Cyboid and a raft of enhanced titles from Telcogames.

In Destiny, you're cast as Commander Jack Lander whose space cruiser has been pulled through a worm hole (you know how it is with worm holes).

The aim of the game is to get your pristine space ship across 15 increasingly challenging levels in one piece, avoiding space debris and the attention of rival vessels en route.

With a range of weapons and power-ups to help you, fancy flying skills will need to be matched by an accurate trigger finger if you're going to progress.

Destiny's maker Black Bull promises console-quality graphics (powered by Black Bull's own 'Talaris Engine', for all you techies) and a host of new features apparently unseen together on mobile games before.

Features like what? Like real-time screen rotation (you can set up the buttons and screen format to suit you), a moveable camera (zoom in and out of the action), time reversal (err, not real time, obviously) and alpha blending (no whisk required).

In contrast, on a retro tip there's also a turn-based multiplayer mode.

Whilst the screens may look more old-school N-Gage than PSP in terms of their 'console quality', the brief glimpse we got of the game certainly saw it nipping along at a fair old pace, creating a sort of WipeOut with guns vibe.

Destiny is available now via the company's website, where you can download a demo to try before you buy. Better yet, we'll shortly be bringing you the official review using one of the compatible handsets below.
