Player One lobs up Davis Cup Tennis

Can the mobile version inspire our real-life, ahem, stars?

Player One lobs up Davis Cup Tennis

Next month, the Great Britain Davis Cup Team (including Andy 'The New Tim Henman, sort-of' Murray), head to Scotland's Braehead Arena to face Serbia-Montenegro in a second round Euro-African Zone Group One tie.

That might sound like a minor skirmish from World War One, but tennis fans have high hopes of the match – it's the first held in the UK since September 2002, when Great Britain defeated Thailand.

If our plucky players need any more inspiration, they could also get going with Player One's Davis Cup Tennis for mobile.

This knockout-style five-round tennis tournament emulates the annual competition, which sees elite players from 16 of the most successful tennis nations in the world (yes, incredibly, that includes the UK) battling for the Davis Cup trophy.

Before officially entering the tournament, our tennis hopefuls could knock about in the game's practice mode, where a coach is on standby to give tips and advice. (Er, how about "win"?)

Once in, they're promised easy shot control and one-thumb gameplay, and matches against all 16 qualifying nations, at home or away. There are day and night games, and grass, grit and artificial surfaces too.

The game has just gone on release, at an operator near you.
