There's been a lot of interest in the gaming potential of augmented reality on the iPhone in recent weeks. Augmented reality on the DSi is something entirely different however.

It doesn't seem to be stopping new UK publisher Enjoy Gaming though.

It's provided details of System Flaw, its game that uses the DSi's camera and has you shooting down alien invaders.

As is the case with such games, System Flaw takes a video feed from one of the DSi's cameras and combines it in real-time with overlaid CG objects - in this case the alien invaders you have to find by moving around the environment.

"It's a unique take on portable excitement," says Paul Tresise, managing director of Enjoy Gaming.

"With 360 degrees of optical flow, and motion technology not yet utilised in handheld gaming, System Flaw is a revolutionary gaming experience and a great first product for Enjoy Gaming."

System Flaw - surprisingly a retail release not a DSiWare download - is out this week in the US, and scheduled for release in the UK and Europe during February 2010.
