UK gets DSi Facebook photo upload firmware

DSi

Earlier today, Rob was talking about the 1.4 firmware release for DSi that enables you to upload the photos you've taken to Facebook going live in Japan.

Thanks to AgentCharisma in the comment section, we know it's live in the UK too, and - we assume - throughout Europe too.

To be honest, it's not very well explained on your DSi however.

I was merely checking the DSi Shop when I was told I would have to download the update in order to access the Shop. There was no mention of the Facebook photo upload feature until the process of the download was over.

Getting the firmware only take a couple of minutes, but, of course, you do need access to a wi-fi network and have set up your DSi correctly.

If your DSi has been parentally locked, you'll need the 4 digit pin to install the upload. The default pin is 0,0,0,0.

Once you have the update installed, there's an announcement in the DSi Shop concerning the Facebook photo upload feature and when you open up the DSi's camera app and choose a photo, there is a short tutorial which shows you how it works.

But other than this, the only outward sign is a small Facebook icon over the top of each photo. You have to tap this with your stylus to open up the menu.

Obviously, the first time you want to upload to Facebook, you have to enter your account username and password. Once completed, however, the process is fairly painless.

You can see my first upload below.
