DS: Global sales hit 40 million consoles
3.1 million in the UK, if you're counting (and we are!)
Online games trade magazine MCV has just revealed Nintendo's lifetime sales of its DS console in an interview with UK boss David Yarton.
The DS console has sold 40 million units worldwide since launch, with 11 million sold in Europe (including 3.1 million in the UK).
To put that into context, the original Game Boy sold around 75 million in its entire lifetime, and the original Xbox just 26 million.
Yarnton also confirmed its next gen home console Wii was off to a great start, with 5.86 million hardware sales so far around the world.
