E3 2008: See how Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise's DS garden grows

We've had our green fingers poised to play the DS adaptation of Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise for quite some time, and the newly released screenshots certainly seem to live up the Xbox 360 cult favourite.

The core gameplay will mimic the home console version, with a few additional elements brought in to incorporate aspects from the TV series.

There'll also be the addition of a Playground mode, which attempts to arcade-ise the simulation gameplay by requiring you to build and populate a garden against the clock.

From what we can see in the new images, the DS's garden looks just as busy and lush as the Xbox 360's. Considering the inherent portability of the handheld console this forthcoming conversion will hopefully lend itself better to the regular maintenance requirements that make for flourishing, piñata-rich vegetation.

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise is due in the US this autumn. A European release date has not yet been announced.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
