The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor comes to DS

Vivendi can do tomb raiding too

Product: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor | Developer: A2M | Publisher: Vivendi | Genre: Action, Adventure
At the end of the week, we heard that Gameloft was getting all wrapped up its mobile game based on the third Mummy movie, and now we hear that Vivendi has announced it's got the console licenses for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as well. The game (of the same name) will be released on DS as well as Wii and PS2 and will be released just after the film on August 8th.

Developed by A2M, a studio with a fair share of licensed games under its belt, including Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and High School Musical: Makin' The Cut!, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor will be a third person action-adventure game that lets you play as both the film's main characters, Rock O'Connell (aka Brendan Fraser) and his son Alex.

Following the story of the film, you'll be chasing across exotic locations from ancient Chinese catacombs to the Himalayan peaks on your quest to defeat the revived servants of the Dragon Emperor.

Players will be able to switch between gunplay and hand-to-hand melee attacks and use a vast arsenal of weapons against an army of the undead. But there will be puzzles as well as action, which will apparently include a spot of hieroglyphic solving among other things.

Whether the DS game will feature any different gameplay to the other versions we're not sure yet. Hopefully we'll get to see some more of it soon to find out.

In the meantime, click 'Track It!' if you want to be kept up to date with Vivendi's foray into tomb raiding between now and the game's release in August.
