Tank Beat 2 turns up on DS for more turret wars

Earlier this year, we got a little too excited about impending tank game, Tank Battles (known as Tank Beat in the US).

It was the prospect of navigating hefty tanks with the DS stylus and swivelling our virtual turrets menacingly at anyone crossing our path that did it.

The game isn't out in Europe yet (October 5th), but that doesn't stop us from being very pleased to be able to announce there's a sequel coming! And if a lengthy title is an indication of quality, then it's going to be the best of the best. Tank Beat 2 Clash! German Forces Vs The Allies has been confirmed for US release by its publisher there, O3.

Reports from Tokyo Game Show, where the sequel was playable, indicate it's basically more of the same. Well, tanks really can't do much more than drive and destroy. You draw your tank's route on the map using the stylus and can issue commands to the other tanks on your team. When an enemy crops up, switching to attack mode is done by pressing the R button. Then you just tap the screen to unleash merry destruction on them.

There are even multiple tanks to choose from, of course, and we're guessing that the four-player options will remain in there, too.

There are no screenshots or videos of the game yet – but you can get an idea of what's in store with our screens of the original Tank Battles (pictured).

Here's hoping and praying Tank Beat 2 gets picked up for a European release, which will no doubt depend on how well the first game performs at retail.
