Like plumbers and electricians (but unlike cooks) you can never have too many brainboxes. At least that seems to be the mantra when it comes to DS gaming.
The latest king of thought to stride onto a game cartridge is German maestro Dr. Reiner Knizia. He's got the usual form, with a maths Ph.D, a background in number crunching for financial institutions, and over 200 published board and paper-based games, including the best-selling
The Lord of the Rings game.
Now he's hooked up Eidos' own gamesmaster, creative director and
Fighting Fantasy gamebook author Ian Livingstone, to create
SPY-Q.
As the name suggests, it's a spin on the James Bond jetsetting lifestyle, as you try to track down the evil Dr. Know (hoho). This activity is combined with dozens of brain-straining puzzles as provided by Dr. Knizia.
There are 16 locations spread around the world, and each will be full of ingenious puzzles and cunning conundrums, unexcavated evidence, and slippery secrets you'll have to solve as fast as possible before moving onto the next city and the next fiendish challenge (
And presumably more alliteration? – Ed).
There's no release date set for
SPY-Q yet, but being canny fellows, we'd guess it should be out sometime this autumn.
